The MIT Certification Authority

The MIT Certification Authority signs Server Certificates. Netscape and Microsoft's Internet Explorer both come with a list of built-in Certificates. However in Netscape after version 2.0 and in Internet Explorer after version 3.0 you can add to this list (or remove from it). By adding the MIT Certification Authority Certificate to this list, your browser will then trust Server's who have their certificates signed by MIT. You can download the MIT Certification Authority Certificate. You can also get a PGP Signed Message (from Jeffrey I. Schiller) for those who trust Jeff's key. The message signs both the Certificate Fingerprint (which Netscape can display) as well as a dump of the contents of the certificate.
