Jeff and Karen's Guinea Pigs

Updated on April 28, 1998

August 6, 2000: Update coming soon!

I haven't had a chance to make a new index page, but recent pictures of our Guinea Pigs can be found here:

Here are some recent pictures of our Guinea Pigs (Cavies). The first picture is Agatha with her latest litter of two baby piggies. They were born on April 26, 1998 around 9AM Eastern Time. You can see how they look a lot like her!

Many of the images here are links. Click on an image and you will get a double size version.

This page has been accessed times since August 12, 2000.

Agatha with Babies
You can see here how the size of Mom (Agatha) compares to the 2 day old babies.

Mom's Looking out of the Cage with Babies nearby
We let our pigs run free (in our bedroom!) in the evenings. Here Agatha is thinking about hopping out and getting a little exercise (and a break from the kids!).

Karen holds babies
Karen is holding the babies. Baby Guinea Pigs are born fully furred, with their eyes open and are about the size of hamsters.

More Pigs
Yet another picture. Note the half carrots on the cage floor. We feed carrots and lettuce to the pigs each night as a treat. Sometimes we split the carrots down the middle. This exposes the sweeter part of the carrot which the pigs often eat first, making a carrot canoe!

Here is Wallace (Wally), who is the Dad for our babies. He is seen here on his "Wally Board", a shelf we installed in his cage because he likes to hop up on it (as well as hopping on tope of his box).

Strawberry by her food dish
Strawberry, our oldest pig (over 5 years old on April 28, 1998). She has retired from raising pigs and enjoys her rest and treats! I have another picture on these pages of her from 1994 with one of her litters of 2 baby pigs.

Closeup of Wally
Here is a closeup of Wally.

A 1994 picture of Strawberry with a litter of two babies (she has had many litters, but is now retired).

PJays, Pig of distinction, Grand-Daddy Pig
This is PJays from 1994. He is no longer with us, but he lived to be over 7 years old, which is pretty old for a Guinea Pig. He is survived by many children, grand children and probably great grandchildren. He is Agatha's father.
